This is certainly giving the entire cryptocurrency industry horrible press and shows the need for some transparency in a number of areas. If you are a believer in cryptocurrency and believe that many cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin have a tremendous future globally in the years to come and decades to come, these types of disastrous events are very discouraging and make me worry that the general public will lose faith in the entire industry right when it has been on the cusp of mainstream acceptance.
